ADHD Cleaning Tips: How to stay focused while cleaning

ADHD-friendly tips to help you stay focused while cleaning! (link to video)

  • Clean ONE room (or area within a room) at a time

  • DO NOT LEAVE the room while cleaning it (this is how you get side tracked, forget what you were doing, and start a dozen other projects)

  • Get a bunch of boxes, designate each box for a different room in your home

  • While cleaning, if something doesn't belong in the room you're in, put it in the box for the room it does belong in

  • After you're done cleaning that room, take your boxes to the next room and repeat this process.

  • I like to wait until after I've finished cleaning a room to put items from that room's box away — it feels less overwhelming to me.
